Better Data and dApp Exploration: Blockscout and The Graph Integration
We are excited to announce that we’re working together with The Graph to create a more seamless, secure, and informative experience for DeFi users and developers.
This integration aims to make it easier than ever to navigate DeFi by bridging the gap between blockchain data indexing and dApp exploration and development.
As a first step, the integration will feature the Gnosis Chain and its dApp ecosystem, with further rollouts to additional chains coming soon.
Key Features
The integration introduces several key features that will enhance how users interact with blockchain data and dApps:
- Cross-platform connectivity: Users will find subgraph links on Blockscout's marketplace and dApp links in The Graph's Explorer, creating a seamless experience between the two platforms.
- Enhanced dApp insights: Each Blockscout dApp will be linked to relevant subgraphs from The Graph, providing users with deeper insights into the data structures powering their favorite applications. This feature not only enables users to make more informed decisions but also empowers developers to explore and utilize open-source subgraphs, allowing them to build upon existing data structures for their own projects.
- Improved security scoring: dApps utilizing The Graph will receive a boost in their security scores on the Dappscout marketplace, offering users an additional layer of confidence. By leveraging The Graph's decentralized infrastructure, these dApps align with core web3 principles, showcasing their commitment to transparency and resilience in the decentralized web.
- Gnosis Marketplace spotlight: The integration begins with selected dApps listed in Blockscout's Gnosis dApp Marketplace that also use subgraphs powered by The Graph. This includes popular platforms like Balancer, Aave, Curve, Sushi Swap, Sablier, Giveth, Request Network, and Hop Protocol, among others. Look for The Graph icons displayed on the dApp listings.
The integration is set to streamline research, enhance security, and empower developers. Users can now access comprehensive information about dApps and their underlying data structures more easily, facilitating informed decision-making. Developers, on the other hand, can showcase their dApps more effectively, leveraging both platforms to increase visibility and user engagement.
Moreover, this collaboration fosters innovation by allowing developers to explore and build upon open-source subgraphs, while also highlighting dApps that embrace decentralized infrastructure. The alignment with web3 principles not only boosts security scores but also reinforces Blockscout’s commitment to transparency and resilience.
What is The Graph?
The Graph is a decentralized indexing protocol that's revolutionizing how we interact with blockchain data. It solves a crucial problem in the blockchain space: the difficulty of querying complex data directly from the blockchain.
Without The Graph, retrieving detailed information from smart contracts would be a time-consuming and resource-intensive process. For instance, getting data about specific NFT characteristics or aggregating DeFi transaction data would require processing every single relevant event ever emitted, which could take hours or even days.
The Graph simplifies this process by using subgraphs (something they protocol pioneered for web3) - custom APIs built on blockchain data. These subgraphs extract data from the blockchain, process it, and store it so that it can be easily queried via GraphQL. This makes dApp development faster, more efficient, and opens up possibilities for more complex blockchain-based applications.
DAppscout: Your DeFi Homepage
DAppscout, Blockscout's marketplace feature, serves as a curated gateway to decentralized applications. As part of Blockscout, the largest open-source block explorer supporting over 1000 EVM chains, DAppscout offers quick access to popular DeFi tools across various blockchains. It's designed to be your homepage for DeFi, providing a secure way to explore and interact with top DApps on your favorite blockchains.
Instead of relying on general search engines to find DApps, DAppscout presents a carefully selected list of protocols, enhancing security and user confidence. This approach streamlines the process of discovering and engaging with reliable decentralized applications.
Other initiatives designed to improve a safe DeFi experience for everyone includes the security score in collaboration with SolidityScan, and user based star ratings for a community based approach.
The collaboration between Blockscout and The Graph marks another significant step in our mission to make DeFi exploration easier and safer for everyone. By combining Blockscout's extensive explorer capabilities with The Graph's robust indexing protocol, we're creating a more integrated and user-friendly ecosystem.

About The Graph
The Graph is the source of data and information for the decentralized internet. As the original decentralized data marketplace that introduced and standardized subgraphs, The Graph has become web3’s method of indexing and accessing blockchain data. Since its launch in 2018, tens of thousands of developers have built subgraphs for dApps across 70+ blockchains - including Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, Polygon, Celo, Fantom, Gnosis, and Avalanche.
