2024 in Numbers

This year's updates focused on making block explorers more powerful yet easier to use. Through AI integration, enhanced analytics, and comprehensive data management, we've built a more complete toolkit for blockchain exploration - from human-readable transactions to permanent blob storage.

Enhanced our data visualization suite with one-click sharing, flexible export options, and customizable timeframes - making onchain analytics more accessible and insightful than ever.

Real-time monitoring gives users a front-row seat to the security system on Base and OP Mainnet, tracking L2 blocks and challenge resolutions.
Token Transfers
New dedicated token transfer page brings clarity to token movement analysis through comprehensive filters: token types, amounts, NFT IDs, transaction hashes, and block data.
Blobs Support
Comprehensive blob views following Ethereum's Dencun upgrade. While the network stores blobs for 18 days, we maintain permanent access to this crucial L2 scaling data - check out our full update on Ethereum blobs for more information.
AI/LLM microservice for human readable transactions
Our custom AI model turns complex blockchain data into clear, readable descriptions, making transaction verification intuitive for all users.
API functionality improvements
New feeds for price data, runtime variables to increase rate limits, and additional endpoints were added to enhance our API services. The expanded REST API provides seamless onchain data to Dapps.
DB Optimizations
Internal transactions table reductions speed up database indexing, while memory monitors help us identify and remediate issues quickly. A host of optimizations were shipped in v6.8.0.

Merits & Badges
We turned blockchain exploration into an engaging adventure with the Blockscout Merits program. Just as scouts earn badges for mastering skills, our community now earns Merits and NFT badges for their blockchain exploration prowess.
Users earn rewards through daily check-ins, completing quests, using Swapscout, and referring friends. Some achievements are also linked to unique Capybara NFT badges, available in four rarity tiers.
By gamifying the explorer experience, we're making blockchain data more engaging and accessible while recognizing our community's contribution to open-source exploration. And this is just the beginning - new partnerships and earning opportunities are coming soon!

What’s next for Blockscout in 2025?
More big things are just around the corner in 2025.
We'll start by transforming blockscout.com into the multichain block explorer of your dreams! A one-stop-shop for exploring addresses/contracts/dapps/NFTs etc across all of your favorite chains. This big milestone will launch towards the beginning of the year.
Next we'll work directly with ecosystems to provide enhanced infrastructure support and chain-specific features, beginning with support for Ethereum's Pectra hard fork. As chains launch with unique functionality and parameters that set them apart, we need to make sure each explorer is serving users with the information and features they need to be successful.
Throughout 2025 we'll add more stats and analytics, more user-centric customizations (features that allow you to customize your personal UI), and more integrations in a sustainable way.
We will tune our interface to balance new features with a simplified explorer experience, making sure we provide easy-to-find, actionable information and accessible tools for all of your DeFi needs. We will continue to partner with the best projects and minds in the space, maintaining our open-source, decentralized ethos and bringing web3 to a much larger audience.
The Merits program will be a primary driver towards greater Blockscout consumer adoption. This program attracts users who don't just need basic information, but who want to learn, experience, and explore the blockchain in new and exciting ways. Look for interactive features, exclusive NFTs, and partner collaborations that bring more usability and fun to the Merits program in 2025.
