Blockscout News: September 2024

After our big fundraising announcement last month, September saw Blockscout back in 🏗️ and 🚢 mode! We released a shiny new backend version 6.8.0, launched the Swapscout swap and bridge interface, and unveiled the latest explorers from Soneium, Redstone, Kinto, Morph and more. Without further ado.....

Blockscout Product Updates

• V6.8.0 introduces exciting new features and optimizations including major database size reductions, csv export enhancements, and smart contract improvements (diamond proxy support, updated API endpoints). Read more about it here.
• We launched Swapscout, a multichain swap and bridge interface built for simplicity and made with 💜 by Blockscout.

• ✅ Our latest analysis found that over 30% of public chains listed on chainlist.org now use Blockscout! We're excited to continue making inroads and supporting chains and ecosystems that need a reliable explorer.

New Instances and Integrations

• Soneium Minato Testnet: An Ethereum L2 designed to go mainstream, Soneium is built by the team at Sony. X Collaboration Announcement

• Redstone: Redstone is a chain built from the ground up for onchain games and autonomous worlds. The customized Blockscout explorer features MUD World views and a dedicated gaming dapps integration. Learn more about our Redstone integration.

• Kinto: An L2 designed to accelerate the transition to an on-chain financial system featuring user-owned KYC, AML, and native account abstraction.

• Morph Holesky Testnet: Morph is building the global consumer layer with their new L2 infrastructure. We announced our partnership and are excited for this new collaboration!

• THAT network: THAT is a new L1 delivering low volatility, high-speed transactions, and minimal fees for secure, seamless, global payments. Learn more in this post.

• Gelato launched Arena-Z (testnet), a new gaming chain curating the finest web3 game experiences.

• Swoop: We're collaborating with Swoop to bring swift swaps to Arbitrum through our DeFi dropdown. Check it out

• Skylark: Complete Blockscout quests and earn rewards through the unique Skylark campaign. It's not too late to participate and win at https://skylarknova.xyz/BlockScout

• 10tance started as a hackathon project during the ETHGlobal Superhack 2024 event and won a Blockscount bounty. It's a data visualizer which maps addresses on Optimism, creating an interactive 2d map of the chain, and is now available to checkout on DAppscout.

Public Goods

We participated in several small funding rounds in September, both as recipients and donors! We've been feeling grateful for our donors and the public goods community and wanted to spread a little 💜 in both the recent Giveth and Octant/Gitcoin rounds. We received donations (matching funds tbd) and gave donations to some of our favorite projects. Blockscout was also featured in a Gitcoin blog post about Public Goods funding, and we even helped write an Octant fundraising song with @karlagod with Borderless!

Hackathons and Events

• Backdrop is a 4-week online hackathon with thousands of builders from around the globe. v6 wrapped up in Sept, and we announced 3 winners for Best Use of Blockscout. Checkout the amazing entries and winners list here.
• We're sponsoring SF AI2Web3 - a FREE 5-day bootcamp happening October 7-11, in San Francisco, the week before ETHGlobal San Francisco. This bootcamp is designed for new developers interested in learning skills and developing web3 and AI applications. Learn more and register here.

Community Corner

This month we feature a quick video on how to verify a smart contract on Soneium Minato testnet with hardhat and Blockscout by Carlos Rodriguez. This 5 minute video shows you a simple verification method that can be tweaked easily to verify contracts on many Blockscout supported chains. Thanks Carlos!
